Subject: By the Mouth of Two or Three Witnesses

Scripture Reading: Deuteronomy 17: 1 – 7

Memory Verses: Matthew 18: 15 – 16

Objective: To stimulate the awareness of bible teaching.

Note: A ‘witness’ is one who can testify about what he/she has seen or heard (John 3: 11 & 32). In both the Law of Moses, and the New Testament, we read the Lord’s instructions, that in certain matters, action should be taken only when two or three witnesses can verify that something took place.

1. What does the Apostle Paul say about all scripture? 2 Timothy 3: 16 – 17

2. In what instance were two or three witnesses required? Deuteronomy 17: 2 – 6; and what did He say witnesses should first do? Deuteronomy 17: 7

3. How was the same concept used by Jesus in Matthew 18: 15 – 20?

4. What were some matters that Paul dealt with among the brethren at Corinth? 2 Corinthians 12: 20 – 21; what did he say to them in 2 Corinthians 13: 1?

5. What was said in relation to the leaders of the church? 1 Timothy 5: 19

6. What was one very important thing that Paul had to settle in the church and how did he say it should be done? 1 Corinthians 14: 26 – 31 & 39 – 40.

Note: ‘By the mouth of two or three witnesses’ is not just a cute and memorable expression. It is bible teaching. It is the Lord’s instruction to His precious people. We need to accept it and strive to apply it properly.
