Subject: Christians’ Commitment to God’s Work
Scripture Reading: Nehemiah 1
Memory Verse: 1 Chronicles 28: 20
Objective: To encourage and develop interest in God’s work.
Introduction: This lesson should aid the children of God to place more emphasis on our spiritual duties in the business of God. Ever too often we neglect and find multiple excuses when it relates to the business of God but let’s make the adjustment and place our energy in the right business.
1. How important should the work of God be to Christians? 1 Corinthians 9: 18 – 23
Note: Many times, brethren have the desire to do service for God and are troubled in mind and heart due to their inability to complete these tasks themselves. Be like Nehemiah and ask the person in charge (the minister) and the LORD will be with you. Don’t forget that at times you’ll be like David and cannot do the work yourself so set the machinery on in preparation for the “Solomon” that should arise.
4. Despite the mocking and forsaking of brethren, what should be kept in mind? Psalm 27: 10
5. What was Jesus’ concern about the work of His Father? Luke 10: 2
Conclusion: Jesus’ concern was that the harvest was plenteous and the labourers were few. We are the labourers of God’s vineyard and as such we must work to bring in the harvest. Lazy, complacent and unreliable workers are unnecessary in this vineyard. Take up the materials for service (bible, hymns, and a strong spiritual life), and go and start your labour for God
