Dec 31, 2022

Subject: Fear God; Stand in Awe of Him

Scripture Reading: Ecclesiastes 5: 1 – 10

Memory Verse: Proverbs 9: 10

Objective: To know what it is to fear God.

1. What reminder is given in Psalm 95: 3 – 7, Psalm 96: 4 – 9, and Psalm 100: 3? And what was David’s prayer about? Psalm 86: 11

2. What is expected of us when we enter God’s sanctuary? Ecclesiastes 5: 1 – 2; and how should we display godly fear? Ecclesiastes 5: 4 – 6

3. What should be expected of us after experiencing God’s blessings and why? Ecclesiastes 12: 13 – 14

Note: It appears that some people believe that God sometimes suffer from memory loss. All that we have done from our youth to our adult life is "clear" before God. Nothing can be hidden from Him. Nothing is overlooked or forgotten by Him. He is slow to anger, but when our sins provoke Him to action it can be very scary. His awesome power to remember all our evil and good deeds should move us to fear Him.

4. Name some things that God has done in reason to stand in awe of Him. Psalm 136: 1 - 15 & 23 – 25, Colossians 3: 25, Deuteronomy 32: 39, Deuteronomy 34: 1 – 5

5. What benefits will be derived from the act of fearing God? Psalm 111: 10, Proverbs 9: 10

6. How does the prophet Malachi say we can identify the God-fearing ones and what will they receive? Malachi 3: 16 – 17, Malachi 4: 2 – 3
