Subject: God’s Judgement is Sure
Scripture Reading: 2 Peter 3: 1 - 18
Memory Verse: 2 Peter 2: 9
Objective: To remind us about God’s impending judgement.
1. Is it profitable for us to know about the pending judgement, and why? 2 Peter 3: 17
2. Does God have a set time for the judgement? Acts 17: 31
NOTE: Judgement is the act of weighing a decision based on the given evidence. God, being the righteous judge, is befitting for the position because He gave us the standard by which we should live. Therefore, everyone must give an account for their own deed.
3. What will be the fate of all the sinners? Revelation 20: 15, 21: 8
4. Which cities are set as examples of the impending judgment? 2 Peter 2: 6
NOTE: The destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah serves as an explicit example of God's righteous judgement. Their unrestrained wickedness and sin were grievous in the sight of God, and forced His wrath upon them. Those of us that continue in the path of unrighteousness will suffer a similar fate.
5. Will the wicked, who have died, escape? John 5: 28 – 29
6. Will the final judgment mean complete destruction for the wicked? Malachi 4: 1 - 3, Obadiah 1: 16, Ezekiel 38: 22
7. Who will escape the final death? Isaiah 33: 14 – 15
Conclusion: We will all appear before the judgement seat of Christ to receive the just reward for the deeds done in our bodies, whether they be good or evil. (2 Corinthians 5: 10)
