Subject: Have We Been True to The Trust He Left Us?

Scripture Reading: Matthew 7: 13 – 27

Memory Verses: 2 Peter 1: 10 – 11

Objective: To help us to understand that remaining true to God through all circumstances is the only way to obtain eternal life.

Introduction: Many times we get involved in activities and the company of friends and associates, then we try to figure out how we got there and why. When we scrutinize the situation, we sometimes discover that we serve no purpose there. Life without a purpose is simply existing. God created us for His glory and in giving homage to Him we will realize our purpose.

1. What sobering exhortation is left on record by Jude which helps us to put things into perspective? Jude 3. How does the preacher to the Gentiles concur with Jude? 1 Corinthians 15: 58

2. What fate awaits those who become complacent? Matthew 25: 1 – 12, Matthew 24: 40 – 41, 48 – 51

3. As we await the return of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, how are we admonished by Peter? 2 Peter 3: 11 – 14; after we endure the onslaught of the wicked one, of what are we assured? 1 Peter 5: 10

4. Being conscious of the fact that life is fleeting, and we are living in an ever-changing season, how are we cautioned to conduct ourselves as people of God? Titus 2: 11 – 14

5. Being true to the trust He left us will allow us to be blameless. How was this evident in Samuel’s life? 1 Samuel 12: 1 – 5; consider brother Paul in Acts 20: 32 – 37; and what enviable testimony did he leave with us? 2 Timothy 4: 6 – 8

6. Some people are in for a rude awakening; they are disillusioned in thinking that they can disregard their fellow men and yet be granted entrance into the kingdom. How does Jesus open our eyes? Matthew 25: 31 – 46

7. What divine proclamation keeps us holding on regardless of our difficulties? Matthew 25: 23, 31 – 34

Note: In order to hear 'well done' from God who cannot lie, we must do well. Being true to the trust He left us supersedes being baptized or dutifully and faithfully showing up for church services. It encompasses our entire mannerism and the quality of service that we render to God and the brotherhood.
