Subject: Lord Help my Unbelief

Scripture Reading: Genesis 16

Memory Verse: 1 Corinthians 10: 11


Objective: To point us to the danger of unbelief.


Note: Troublesome times are here, filling men’s heart with fear but for the child of God, ‘His’ words are still yea and amen.


1. Years after God’s promise of making of Abraham a great nation (Genesis 12: 1 & 2) he remained childless (Genesis 16: 1). What was still God’s promise to him? Genesis 15: 1 – 4


2. What was Sarai’s proposal to this seemingly forgotten promise, and how soon after did the consequences of her action begin? Genesis 16: 1 – 6


3. In His appointed time, how did God keep His word to Abraham? Genesis 21: 1 – 7; and what can we all learn from Isaiah 40: 13 – 14?


4. Where did the tension between Abraham’s two sons begin? Genesis 21: 9 – 14; and what was the result of this tension? Psalm 83: 1 - 8


Note: Short term gain is destined to bring long term pain.


5. For what short-term game did Esau sell his birthright and what long-term pain ensued? Genesis 25: 27 – 34, 27: 34 – 41; and what sad conclusion was made in Hebrews 12: 16 – 17?


6. The fight to believe God constantly and remain in His will is real. How did the apostle Paul sum this up? Romans 7: 18 – 24; did he overcome and can we? 1 Corinthians 15: 50, 57 & 58, Mark 9: 23 – 24
