Subject: Oh for Grace to Trust Him More

Scripture Reading: Judges 7: 1 - 21

Memory Verses: Proverbs 3: 5 - 6

Objective: To highlight the importance of trusting in God.

1. Who are we encouraged to trust and how? Proverbs 3: 5 – 7; and what does Jeremiah say of those who trust in God and those who do otherwise? Jeremiah 17: 5 – 8

2. How did Gideon prove God? Judges 6: 36 – 40

3. With Israel’s army greatly reduced, how did God settle any lingering doubt in Gideon’s mind? Judges 7: 7 – 15

4. Gideon’s belief in God’s words rose to a level of trust when he saw signs. What would God rather have us do? John 20: 24 – 29

5. When a grieving father realized he not only needed to believe God’s word, but trust that Jesus was capable of actually healing his son, what was his prayer? Mark 9: 23 – 24

Note: To believe when conditions are favourable or only when we see signs is limiting. God wants his people to raise their level of belief and not waver. He wants us to trust His words even when feelings and signs point in other direction (adapted).

6. How did the prophet Habakkuk express the kind of trust required of God’s people? Habakkuk 3: 17 – 19; and how did the apostle ‘nail’ it? Acts 27: 18 – 25

7. How did others demonstrate their unquestionable trust in the omnipotent God? Daniel 3: 13 – 25, 6: 10 – 22
