Subject: Perseverance

Scripture Reading: 2 Kings 2: 1 – 15

Memory Verse: 1 Timothy 4: 16

Objective: To highlight the benefits of consistency.

1. What was special about Elisha's behaviour? 2 Kings 2: 1 – 4

2. What request was made by Elisha in 2 Kings 2: 9?

Note: There's a lot to learn from Elisha. He saw his master at work and knew great things were accomplished by the Spirit of God. Certainly, he could have made a different choice, but he asked for that which would give him all he needed to continue to the end. While we "persevere" - let us make sure we are doing it for an excellent gift.

3. How did being such a persistent individual pay off for Elisha? 2 Kings 2: 12 – 15 and 19 – 22

4. What does Jesus say of the widow who continued her pursuit that applies to all of us? Luke 18: 1 – 5

5. What is said of those who constantly seek the Lord and how are we admonished? Luke 18: 6 – 8; 2 Thessalonians 3: 13

6. How does Isaiah assure us of the blessing of endurance? Isaiah 40: 30 – 31

7. Why is it important that we be steadfast? 2 Timothy 4: 18

8. While we journey along this path, what may befall us and what is the result of perseverance? Revelations 2: 9 – 11

Conclusion: There is no duty or responsibility that is without its challenges. The route to perfection and eternal blessings is a strait one and only those who continue to the end will be saved; keep on pressing.
