Subject: Spiritual Gifts

Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 12: 1 – 14

Objective: To identify the gifts of the spirit and their importance.

Introduction: There are many teachings bouncing around in the atmosphere about the Holy Spirit. The church must function and operate in accordance with the scripture. Let us explore the facts as we allow the Spirit of God to guide us into understanding His truth.

1. To whom does the Holy Spirit belong and what role did he play in creation? Genesis 1: 1 & 2

2. Is there any indication from the scripture of God giving His Spirit to man? Numbers 11: 25 & 26

Note: The spirit belongs to God. He, God had all intentions for us to have a relationship with Him. He makes connection with us through His spirit and expects us to live in obedience to his commandments. Those who walk in disobedience will face rejection and ultimately God’s wrath at the time appointed.

3. The fulfillment of a prophecy was done in Jerusalem, what was it? Acts 2: 1 – 4

4. Who is eligible to obtain a gift of the spirit? Acts 2: 14 – 21

5. Identify the gifts of the spirit as recorded in 1 Corinthians 12: 4 – 11. Discuss the role of these gifts in the work of the Lord.

Conclusion:It is evident from the scriptures that all gifts of the spirit are used to benefit the work of the Lord. There is no record of one gift being superior to another. We must all join in humility of heart as we assist in building the kingdom of God.
