Subject: There Is No Forgiveness Without Restoration
Scripture Reading: Luke 15: 11 – 32
Memory Verses: Luke 17: 3 – 4
Objective: To understand forgiveness the way Jesus teaches it.
1. Should we set a limit as to how many times we forgive an individual? Matthew 18: 21 – 22
2. How did a loving father deal with a wayward son? Luke 15: 11 – 24
3. Joseph, a man of like passions as we are, showed us how to forgive. What does the scripture say about this? Genesis 45: 1 – 15
4. What will our heavenly Father do to us when we fail to forgive? Matthew 18: 23 – 35
Note: Being unwilling to forgive makes one agitated, bitter, irate and keeps one on the pathway to hell. Let go and let God.
5. The greatest teacher of all time led by example; how did He treat a delicate situation? John 8: 1 – 11
6. Jesus left us a sample prayer that we often repeat casually, however, it has great implications. What is the message in Matthew 6: 12?
7. What admonition was given to the church at Ephesus that is still applicable today? Ephesians 4: 26, 31 & 32
Note: We have heard people say on several occasions, “I forgive you but.” Let us get rid of the but. When we truly forgive there will be no avoiding or limits set, we must just let it go and let the love flow. Then, and only then, can we say we have forgiven our offenders the way God has forgiven us.
