Subject: Why Fear Jordan?

Scripture Reading: 2 Kings 2: 1 - 15

Memory Verses: 2 Kings 2: 13 - 14

Objective: To see obstacles and trials as mediums of growth and strength instead of positions of hopelessness and despair.

Note: Jordan is often seen as a menacing, uncrossable body of water, but to the child of God, Jordan is where dreams are realized, and fears conquered; a place of deliverance and rebirth.

1.What dreams were realized for Elisha at Jordan? And what proof was there that he was the true successor to Elijah? 2 Kings 2: 6 - 15

2.How did the spiritual focus of a Syrian captain change after being healed in the Jordan river? 2 Kings 5: 9 - 19

3.At what time of the year and by what means did the Israelites cross Jordan? Joshua 3: 5 - 17

4.What charge was given to Israel to commemorate their historic crossing of Jordan, and what testimony do the stones bear? Joshua 4: 1 - 9

5.As we face the trying situations in these times, what would Joshua want us to remember about the God who dried up the Red Sea and the Jordan river so that His people could cross over on to dry land? Joshua 4: 19 - 24

6.Jordan is also a place of rebirth. How does Mark 1: 1 - 5 confirm this, and did Jesus Himself identify with those that He came to redeem? Matthew 3: 13 – 17
