Lesson No.

Jan 20, 2024

Subject: Consistency Moves God

Scripture Reading: Daniel 6

Memory Verses: Colossians 3: 23 – 24

Objective: To impress in the lives of believers that being consistent allows us to experience the presence, providence and blessings of God.

Introduction: Consistency cultivates faithfulness. It helps to foster and develop spiritual growth in the lives of believers. Some Christians are great starters in their pursuit of God, but lack the consistency needed to effect a great finish. The world, in demanding much of our attention, pushes us backward spiritually until we become stagnant in our walk with God. Believers must create a balance and make a conscious decision to develop a close relationship with God. It is in doing His will that we will see His move in our lives. Let us therefore avoid being consistently inconsistent.

1. In striving to be consistent, whose example should we follow and why? Malachi 3: 6 (first part)

2. What great benefits are derived when we remain consistent in our walk with God? 2 Timothy 2: 19 – 21

3. What actions showed Daniel’s consistency in his relationship with God after he heard the king’s decree? Daniel 6: 10. What consequence did he face for his consistency, and how did God move in his situation? Daniel 6: 16 – 24

4. In addition to one’s consistency, how did God move in the lives of Paul and Silas while they made a conscious decision to be consistent in the work of God, regardless of the odds? Acts 16: 16 – 26

5. What are some ways that believers can develop daily disciplines that fuel faithful consistency? Psalm 92: 1 – 2; Proverbs 8: 33; 1 Thessalonians 5: 17; 1 Corinthians 15: 58; Hebrews 10: 25; Ephesians 4: 22 – 24, 5: 20; 2 Timothy 2: 15

6. How are we admonished to walk according to Ephesians 5: 14 – 20, and what will be the result of pushing forward amidst the circumstances that surround us? Galatians 6: 9; Colossians 3: 23 – 25

Conclusion: We live in a world of ‘on-again’ and ‘off-again’ Christians who walk with today and tomorrow are otherwise minded. Consistency means that your godly actions are done regardless of the immediate conditions, such as reading God’s word, praying, or evangelizing. Daniel and Paul were exemplary believers who depicted faithful consistency. Their steadfastness allowed them to experience deliverance, providence, and many other blessings from God. They chose to remain faithful to God despite the circumstances they faced.
