Subject: Finish Strong

Scripture Reading: 2 Timothy 4: 1 – 18

Memory Verse: 1 Corinthians 9: 24


Objective: To encourage believers to fight to the finish in faith.


Introduction: Finishing strong is of key importance in a believer’s life. The race marked before us is not a competitive one that yields multiple prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rdor consolation places. Everyone winsonce they cross the finished line in faith.


1. Identify the insightful statement that came from the wise man about finishing in Ecclesiastes 7: 8 (first part), and how should we run? 1 Corinthians 9: 24 – 25


2. What are we expected to endure while in this race and how are we encouraged? 2 Timothy 3: 12 – 14


3. What profound act was done when Jesus faced death on the cross? Luke 22: 41 & 43?


4. Describe the Apostle Paul's response when faced with oppression. 2 Timothy 4: 10 & 14; and what benefits are there for those who follow suit? 2 Chronicles 15: 7, Galatians 6: 9


5. How are we admonished to run? 1 Corinthians 9: 26 – 27, Hebrews 12: 1 – 3


Note: While running this race, there will be times when we are at our lowest. We may feel like giving up in the face of discouragements, earthly sorrows, and attacks from the enemy. However, it is important that we finish the race as strong winners irrespective of the obstacles that may be present. Obstacles should never deter us from finishing strong, in fact they should propel us to the end. The faith we have in what lies ahead should be our main source of motivation.

7. Are there any concerns for us while running this race? 2 Timothy 3: 14, 2 Timothy 4: 3 & 4


8. How are we assured we are not running in vain? 1 Corinthians 9: 26; and what bold statement can we hold to when we finish strong? 2 Timothy 4: 7 – 8


Note: The race that believers run comes with speed bumps and hurdles that may prevent us from finishing strong. However, as we get over each hindrance, we are well on our way to the finish line. Stay hydrated with patience, endurance, faith, and perseveranceespecially in times of adversity.
