Mar 4, 2023

Subject: Keeping Our Appointments with God

Scripture Reading: Genesis 3: 8 – 13

Memory Verse: Genesis 3: 9

Objective: To urge saints to show up fully prepared and ready.

1. When and where was it customary for God to meet with Adam? What question was asked of him when he failed to show up? Genesis 3: 8 – 9

2. What excuse did Adam make for missing this appointment? Was his reason for doing so accepted? Genesis 3: 10 – 19

3. How intentional should we be in keeping these vital appointments with God? James 2: 19, Galatians 5: 7

Note: It must be understood that God did not create man and leave him to figure things out. God intentionally gave him relevant instructions as he learned about his environment. God expected him to present himself at the appointed time without being coerced.

4. Showing up is commendable but waiting for and following God's instructions are crucial. How did the actions of Saul and Cain prove this? 1 Samuel 10: 8 & 13, 13: 8 – 14, Genesis 4: 3 – 7

5. How important is it that we be fully prepared before showing up to meet God? Matthew 22: 9 – 14, 1 Corinthians 11: 23 – 30

6. What two life giving appointments should we not miss? Exodus 20: 8, 1 Corinthians 11: 23 – 26

7. If we fail to meet for the two fundamental engagements mentioned above, which other will we definitely miss? 1 Thessalonians 4: 13 – 18

Conclusion: There are some appointments that may be rescheduled or cancelled and most times it is to our convenience. The appointments with God are unique to each person and no one can stand in for us. We must be responsible and intentional in our relationship with God - He is consistent and so should we.
