Subject: Repentance Cancels Judgement

Scripture Reading: Jonah 3

Memory Verse: Jonah 3: 10

Objective: To remind believers that God still accepts a broken and contrite heart.

1. Why did God send Jonah to Nineveh to warn the people? Jonah 1: 1 - 2

Note: The fact that God saw Nineveh’s condition and sent to warn them is an indication that He is truly a God of love and mercy.

2. Is it any joy to the Father when one dies in sin? Ezekiel 18: 21 - 23 & 32

3. How does the scripture prove to us that God desires man to turn from their sin and live clean? Jonah 3: 1 - 2

4. When Nineveh heard Jonah’s warning, what were their response? Jonah 3: 4 & 5

5. How seriously did their king take the message? Jonah 3: 6 - 8; and what confidence did he have in God? Jonah 3: 9

Note: The people of Nineveh immediately gave heed to the words of the Lord. God expects us to listen to His voice and without hesitation amend our ways. God also expects His servants to warn the nation to turn from their wickedness that there will be joy on earth and joy in heaven.

6. What did God do when Nineveh bowed in humility and penitence? Jonah 3: 10

7. What message is given to us in Proverbs 28:13, and how beautifully does Jesus words close this subject today? Matthew 11: 28 - 30
