Objective: To develop an awareness of what it is to be forgiven.


1. How does the process of being forgiven begin and where did David place all blame? Psalm 51: 1 – 3


2. How badly did he crave the peace and freedom that come with being forgiven and what did he promise to do after being restored? Psalm 51: 2, 11, 12 – 15


3. What is the state of many who are forgiven according to the psalmist? Psalm 32: 1 – 2


4. Identify the burden that we experience if we remain unrepentant? Psalm 32: 3 – 4. What act gives us release in verse 5 and state the selfless recommendation given? Verses 6, 9 & 10


5. In addition to confessing our sins, what else is necessary? Proverbs. 28: 13


6. After confession of sins and vowing to forsake them, what privilege does the believer now have? Psalm 51: 19; 85: 1 – 3, 7 – 8


7. Was confessing of sins a part of Israel’s way of life? Ezra 10: 9 – 12; Daniel 9: 1 – 7, and what does John want us to understand in this time? 1 John 1: 5 – 10
