Subject: What doth hinder me?

Scripture Reading: Numbers 14: 1 - 30

Objective: To identify and acknowledge one’s weakness and make amends.


Note: The term Achilles heel refers to an area of weakness that can lead to one’s downfall despite overall strength. Having the Almighty God as their help, Israel suffered terribly for not trusting Him. 1 Samuel 9:2 describes Saul as having all the outward attributes of a “choice young man” yet he lacked control which led to his dismal failure.


1. Despite having their God as deliverer and guide, what was obviously Israel’s weakness? Numbers 14: 20 – 22; What did this cost them? Verses 23 - 30


2. Why was Caleb able to enter and take possession of his promised portion of Canaan? Numbers 14: 24, Joshua 14: 6 - 14


3. Israel of old was often reproved for mistrust and continuous murmuring, what does Isaiah say of all God’s children? Isaiah 59: 12


4. As soon as we identify/ acknowledge our areas of weakness what should be our response? Psalm 32: 5 - 6; Psalm 51: 3
