God's Power Is for Everyone

Subject: God's Power Is for Everyone

Scripture Reading: Numbers 11: 24-29

Memory Verse: Ephesians 3:20

Objective: To understand that God can empower anyone to serve, and true leadership desires the empowerment of others, not the monopolization of power

Warm Up

What are some things that you like or don’t like about group work? Explain why!

Questions

  1. What happened in this passage? Summarize the story

  2. Why did the elders prophesy? Numbers 11:25

  3. Why were Eldad and Medad able to prophesy when they were not at the Tent of Meeting? Numbers 11:26

  4. What does this tell us about the power of God? (Discussion)

  5. Why was Joshua concerned and how did Moses respond? Numbers 11:28 - 29

Note: Eldad and Medad, went not out unto the tabernacle, as the rest, but the Spirit of God found them in the camp, and they spoke as moved by the Holy Ghost. Perhaps Joshua saw this as a threat towards Moses’ leadership or authority. Moses does not see this event as a threat but sees this event not as a threat but as a fulfilment of his desire for help. Think About It: What important lesson can we learn from Moses based on his response?

Activities

I. What does this passage say about leadership and God's power?

Restate and answer the question by making an inference. Then use evidence from what happened in today’s story to support your inference.

II. Text/Talk to God

Imagine that you’re in a situation like Moses where you feel overwhelmed and you want to seek God’s assistance. Use the template to tell God how you are feeling and imagine how he might respond to you. Your texts would go on the right and God's texts would go on the left and what you're going to do is text God and then write down what you think God would text back to you
