‘Cherish it,’ Don’t Just Lay It Down

Subject: ‘Cherish it,’ Don’t Just Lay It Down

Scripture Reading: Genesis 25: 19 - 34

Memory Verse: Genesis 3: 6

Objective: To encourage believers to cherish their Kingdom position, and not to hand over their opportunity of eternal life to a being that will never inherit life.

  1. What was one of the first instances recorded of man ‘laying it down’, and what helped to further propel this choice? Genesis 3: 1 - 7

  1. Although initially possessing the prized possession of birthright, what bad choice did Esau make? Genesis 25: 33; And what was his rationale? Genesis 25: 32

  1. Looking back at Esau’s poor choice in ‘laying it down’, what can we learn? Hebrews 12: 16 - 17

Note: It is so sad that many today are crying daily within, for the choices they have made. Many have yet to recover, and perhaps some never will. Don’t gamble with your chance.

  1. When faced with the temptation to ‘lay it down’, what example did Christ leave on record for us? What was His reply? After enduring, what comfort did He receive? Matthew 4: 1 - 11

  1. Identify some persons who remained resolute for God? Genesis 39:7 - 9, Hebrews 11: 24 - 26, Daniel 1: 8, Daniel 3: 16 - 18

  1. What thoughts does Peter share on the topic? 2 Peter 2: 20 - 22

Note: We realize that ‘it’ here bears many names, but the common denominator is our relationship with God. Did you know that the devil doesn’t just take it, but we simply lay it down. Remember, he has to ask permission of God. Therefore, let’s not surrender our sacred spiritual lives but cherish and preserve it. It really matters.
