God is Tired of the Empty Talk and Vain Worship

Subject: God is Tired of the Empty Talk and Vain Worship

Scripture Reading: Isaiah 1: 1 - 23

Memory Verses: Isaiah 1: 13 – 15

Objective: To emphasize the fact that God is seeking true worshippers.

1. What questions did God pose to Israel that are still relevant today? Malachi 1: 6, Isaiah 1: 11 & 12, Jeremiah 7: 9 - 11

2. How did God show His disapproval for empty worship and bring to our focus that noise only does not move Him? 1 Chronicles 13: 1 - 11

3. Israel thought that having the Ark of the covenant in their possession was enough to be victorious, what rude awakening befell them? 1 Samuel 4: 1 - 11

4. On the contrary what great victories will be accomplished when God is in our shout or worship? 2 Chronicles 20: 1 - 18, 21 - 24, Joshua 6: 1 - 3, 10 - 16, 20 & 21

5. What grave conclusions did God come to about His people? Isaiah 1: 13 - 15, Jeremiah 15: 1 – 6; And what was their status? Isaiah 1: 21 - 23, Jeremiah 8: 7

6. What invitation was extended to His wayward children? Isaiah 1: 16 - 20, Jeremiah 3: 14 & 15

7. How must we conduct ourselves if we want our worship to be acknowledged and rewarded by God? Isaiah 58: 6 - 14, James 1: 27

Note: The famous parable reminds us that empty barrels make the most noise, the scripture also bears this out and likens us to ‘a sounding brass and a tinkling cymbal.’ Our God is not moved by noise or mere bodily exercise, He longs for sincere worship from holy and obedient vessels. We are called to make a joyful noise unto the Lord and worship Him in the beauty of holiness. Let us all get back to the heart of worship where it’s all about Him.

8. What does the scripture say about the subject? John 4: 23 & 24
