Blessed Is the Man / Woman That Does This

Subject: Blessed Is the Man / Woman That Does This

Scripture Reading: Isaiah 56

Memory Verses: Isaiah 56: 2 - 3

Objective: To emphasize that the Sabbath entails much more than rest from physical labour.

1.     What general appeal was made by Isaiah regarding the keeping of God’s covenant, and why was this appeal so urgent? Isaiah 56: 1

2.     How specific was the Lord concerning the observance of the seventh-day Sabbath, which is entrenched in the covenant? Isaiah 56: 2

3.     The Lord, the Creator of the Sabbath, declared in Mark 2: 27 - 28 that the Sabbath was made for the benefit of mankind and not mankind for the Sabbath. How does Isaiah 56: 3 - 7 make God’s intent clear?

4.     How intentional should one be in the keeping of the Sabbath, and what are the promised blessings and favours? Isaiah 58: 13 - 14

5.     In addition to the benefits named above, what has been the experience of the afflicted as they gathered for worship on the Sabbath? Luke 13: 10 - 13, John 5: 1 - 9

6.     What other meaningful exercise is carried out as believers worship on the Sabbath? Luke 4: 16 - 21, Acts 13: 42 – 49, Acts 17: 2 - 3

7.     What ultimate endorsement is placed on those who lay hold on God’s covenant and call the Sabbath a delight? Revelation 22: 14
