Subject: Following God’s Instructions

Scripture Reading: Luke 17: 11 - 19

Memory Verse: 1 Samuel 15: 22

Objective: To emphasize that we have nothing to lose and everything to gain when we obey God’s instructions.

1. What seemingly ridiculous instructions did God give to Joshua to destroy the walls of Jericho, the Canaanite’s stronghold, and what happened when the instructions were followed? Joshua 6: 1 - 16 & 20

2. By obeying simple commands, how did Gideon and three hundred men defeat a mighty Midianite army? Judges 7: 4 - 7 & 9 - 23

3. What role did ten lepers play in receiving their healing? Luke 17: 11 - 15

4. Arrogance almost caused Naaman to return to Syria still plagued with leprosy. How was this averted? 2 Kings 5: 8 - 15

5. How did Israel suffer in the following two instances for simply disobeying God’s commands? Numbers 14: 36 - 45, Joshua 6: 16 - 28, Joshua 7: 1 - 6

Note: No matter how unconventional God’s instructions may seem, it is always in our best interest to follow them. The time has come for us to forget about being ‘politically correct’; forget the who, what, when, why and where, and follow what God commands.

6. Consider carefully the fate of two of God’s ‘faithful’ servants who failed to follow through with God’s simple instructions. Numbers 20: 7 – 12, Deuteronomy 4: 21 & 22, 1 Kings 13: 11 - 24
