From Crown of Thorns to the Father’s Throne

Subject: From Crown of Thorns to the Father’s Throne

Scripture Reading: John 19: 1 - 18

Memory Verse: Hebrews 12: 2

Objective: To remind believers of the crown that we will gain when we endure the cross.

Introduction: Jesus, the Son of the living God, got the prize after He died on the cross. If we want to share in His glory, we too must share in His story. No pain no prize, no strain no gain, no test no testimony, no cross no crown. Only the strait road leads to eternal life.

1.     What qualified the great multitude that our brother John wrote about to be among the overcomers? Revelation 7: 9 - 14

2.     How does Jesus seek to empower us to hold out and hold on? John 16: 33

3.     What is left on record that gives hope to all believers? 2 Timothy 3: 10 - 13, 1 Peter 4: 1 - 2, Acts 14: 21 - 22

4.     When will we be declared ‘saved’? Matthew 24: 13

5.     How are we advised to make it to the kingdom of God? Matthew 7: 13 - 14

Note: The noun strait comes from the latin word strictus, which means to bind or draw tight. A strait will make you feel like you are in tight quarters. It takes discipline, resolve, endurance, dedication, and commitment to stay on this path. Let us ask the Saviour to help us, comfort, strengthen and keep us. He is willing to aid us, He will carry us through.

6.     How does Jesus further implore us on our walk with Him? 2 Timothy 2: 12; Matthew 16: 24 - 25

7.     What made Jesus hold on despite the fact that He had to die on the cross? Hebrews 12: 2 - 3

8.     Jesus, having suffered betrayal, denial, desertion, hunger and ultimately death, is now in what exalted position? 1 Peter 3: 22; and what glory awaits those who are willing to share in His story? Revelation 3: 21
