Importance/Purpose of Bible Study

Subject: Importance/Purpose of Bible Study

Scripture Reading: Psalm 119: 24 - 40

Memory Verse: 2 Timothy 2: 15

Objective: To understand the necessity and benefits of diligently studying God’s word.

1.     What command or instruction is given to God’s children concerning His word? 2 Timothy 2: 15

Note: To gain God’s approval, we must study His word carefully. God’s desire is that we follow His instructions precisely. He wants us to be happy, fulfilled, and confident about our future.

2.     What method is recommended when studying God’s word? Isaiah 28: 9 - 10

3.     Who are those that will have a good understanding of the Bible? Psalm 111: 7 - 8 & 10; and how do these persons relate to God? Isaiah 66: 5

4.     What can we gain from studying the scriptures? Romans 5: 4 - 5

5.     According to Apostle Peter, what is expected of each of us? 1 Peter 3: 15

Note: We should be able to give an answer to those who genuinely want to know about the hope within us. Parents are also expected to teach their children God’s way of life and be able to answer their questions (see Deuteronomy 6: 6 - 7). When we study God’s word, our lives, as well as the lives of who we meet, will be impacted. Let us model God’s word.

6.     What else may we expect to come as a result of studying the word of God? Romans 10: 17

7.     Our natural thoughts and actions are not like God’s thoughts or actions. How does studying the word help us? 2 Timothy 3: 16 - 17; 1 Peter 2: 1 - 2

8.     How often should we renew our relationship with God? 2 Corinthians 4: 15 - 16

Note: Daily prayer, along with daily Bible study, nurtures and strengthens our relationship with God
