Man – Created for God’s Plan

Subject: Man – Created for God’s Plan

Scripture Reading: Genesis 2: 15 - 25

Memory Verse: Genesis 2: 15

Objective: To highlight the distinct role of man and its impact on the broader divine plan of God.

Introduction: A man is an adult individual who was biologically born male. According to the biblical worldview, manhood is not defined by internal feelings, subjective identification, or shifting social constructs. Instead, it is a fixed reality established by the Creator.

Furthermore, the foundation of being a man is rooted in Genesis 1:27. He is designed to reflect specific attributes of God: His authority, His creativity, His justice, and His fatherhood; all displayed clearly in the Genesis narrative.

  1. According to the scriptures, to whom is man ultimately accountable? Genesis 2: 15 - 17, 1 Corinthians 11: 3, Isaiah 64: 8

  1. What are the specific behavioural standards and moral disciplines required for a young man to conduct himself with integrity? Titus 2: 6 - 8, 2 Timothy 2: 22, 1 Timothy 4: 12

  1. As a brother in the faith attempts to devise his future plans, what core principles from Psalm 37: 23, Proverbs 19: 21, and Proverbs 3: 6 should he bear in mind to ensure his ambitions align with the Divine will of God?

Note: Let us consider two (2) primary pillars that the godly man should stand on.

Provider: This role is based on the mandate given by the Almighty from the genesis of time "to dress" and "to keep the garden" (Genesis 2: 15). A man is called to be a source of sustenance. He ensures that the physical, emotional, and resource-based needs of his family and those under his care are consistently met through diligent labour and wise management.

Priest-like: The true man of God functions as the spiritual intermediary or ‘covering’ for his household, mirroring Christ’s leadership over the Church (1 Corinthians 11:3). He leads by example in prayer and the teaching of biblical values and truths. By maintaining his own connection to Christ, he keeps himself and his family spiritually grounded.

  1. The relationship between a man and his wife is described as the highest and most sacred of all human bonds. How is this relationship described? Genesis 2: 24, Ephesians 5: 25, 28 - 29, 1 Corinthians 7: 3 - 4

  1. Considering Ephesians 6: 4 and Deuteronomy 6: 6 - 7, what specific spiritual and relational disciplines are fathers encouraged to practice in child-rearing, and what long-term generational considerations are highlighted in Proverbs 13: 22 and Proverbs 20: 7?

  1. What is likely to happen when a man abandons his role and what considerations are recommended? 1 Timothy 5: 8, Genesis 3: 17 - 19, Proverbs 10: 4, Proverbs 6: 6 -11

  1. What words of motivation should the Church use to foster the spiritual development and maturity of men? 1 Timothy 4: 7 & 12, 2 Timothy 2: 15 - 16

Conclusion: The role of the man is not a mere social preference; it is a vital component of God divine order. If there is an intentional blurring of the line between the roles of the male and female, it will have harmful implications on individuals, the family and the church. When a man accepts his God-given role and position, he reflects the very nature of Christ before an observing world. By acknowledging God in all his ways, the man becomes the conduit through which divine order, security, and legacy flow into the next generation. Ultimately, the restoration of the family and the strength of the church depend upon men who understand that they are accountable to the Almighty, committed to their wives, and dedicated to the holistic development of their children.
