The Need to Acknowledge, Assess and Adjust

Subject: The Need to Acknowledge, Assess and Adjust

Scripture Reading: 1 Chronicles 13

Memory Verse: 1 Chronicles 15: 2

Objective: To make us fully aware that acknowledgment is the first stage of the recovery process.

1.       In acknowledging his failed attempt to bring the ark of God to its rightful place, how did king David react? 1 Chronicles 13: 1 - 12

2.       Conscious of his position as the leader, how did king David assess the situation, where did he look for answers and what adjustments did he make? Numbers 4: 15, 1 Chronicles 15: 1 - 15

3.       How successful was the second attempt to bring the ark home? 1 Chronicles 15: 25 - 28

Note: When Israel failed under Saul’s leadership, he blamed everyone except himself. However, the ‘man after God’s own heart’ did otherwise.

4.       Why was the ark of God taken by the Philistines in the first place? 1 Samuel 4: 12 - 21; and how long before it was returned? 1 Samuel 7: 2

5.       After reigning for two years, Saul proved he was a self-willed leader, and consequently, he did not seek to retrieve the ark in all his forty-two years as the leader of Israel. What is the stark difference in the approach of the leaders who looked to God for direction and those who did not? Joshua 7: 5 - 15, 2 Chronicles 20: 1 - 12, 2 Chronicles 34: 19 - 21, 1 Samuels 13: 11 - 14

6.       How did Samuel seek to make the necessary adjustments to restore Israel’s dignity? 1 Samuel 7: 3 - 14

7.       How is spiritual Israel being offered the same opportunity to adjust and rise from failures today?? Jeremiah 3: 13 - 14, Isaiah 1: 16 - 20

Note: Wisdom dictates that all institutions, private or public companies, educational etc., engage in this exercise, that is acknowledging, assessing and adjusting, for continued success and growth. It’s a good healthy habit to take stock of how we live this ‘special’ way of life.
