What/Whom Should We Seek?

Subject: What/Whom Should We Seek?

Scripture Reading: Amos 5: 4 - 24

Memory Verse: Matthew 6: 33

Objective: To remind believers that at all times the godly things should be our main focus.

  1. While the gentiles are overly concerned about their basic needs, what is the encouragement to the called-out ones? Matthew 6: 25 - 33, and how do the following scriptures seek to further empower us? Psalm 34: 14 & 15; Colossians 3: 1 & 2

  1. What assurance comes to us from Isaiah 66: 7? When does God say that we will find Him? Jeremiah 29: 13 & 14; Proverbs 8: 7

  1. What commitment did the man after God’s own heart make that is still relevant for spiritual success? Psalm 27: 4; Having made such a commitment what testimony does he have? Psalm 34: 4

  1. God has a bone of contention with His creation. Can we identify it in the scriptures given? Psalm 14: 1 - 3; Romans 3: 10 - 12

  1. What wonderful invitation to mortal men does the giver of all good gifts extends? Matthew 7: 7 - 8, and in seeking the Lord how are we assured? Psalm 34: 10; Hebrews 11: 6

  1. In keeping with the lesson, what is listed among God’s formula for us to get victory? 2 Chronicles 7: 14

  1. When trouble was brewing on the horizon, how did Jehoshaphat respond? 2 Chronicles 20: 1 - 4. Let us also examine Ezra’s actions in Ezra 8: 21 - 23

  1. We now conclude this lesson with instruction from the man known for his wisdom. Proverbs 11: 27

Note: The world pursues expensive food and fashionable clothing as ends in themselves. It has its heart set on things without thinking of God and thanking Him for such pleasure. The materialistic world is like a group of passengers frantically scurrying to get the best deck chair on a sinking ship. When we are consumed with possessions there can be little affection in our hearts for God. Let us endeavor to seek those things which are above.
