By His Stripes We Are Healed

Subject: By His Stripes We Are Healed
Scripture: Isaiah 53
Memory Verse: Isaiah 53:5
Objective: To understand how Jesus heals body, mind, and spirt
Warm Up
When you hear the word healing, what comes to mind? Have you or someone you know ever been healed from something physical, emotional, or spiritual?
Many people think of healing only in terms of sickness or injury—but Jesus came to restore our whole selves: body, mind, and spirit.
Questions
As it relates to healing, what did Isaiah prophesy about the Messiah? Isaiah 53:3–5
Note: "By His stripes" refers to the wounds from Jesus being whipped before His crucifixion.
According to Isaiah prophesied that Jesus would suffer for our sins, our peace, and our healing.
2. How was the truth of Isaiah’s prophecy demonstrated in Matthew 8:16–17?
Note: Jesus didn’t just preach—He physically healed people. Think About It: Does God still heal today? What kind of healing do you think people need most right now?
3. Does Jesus offer emotional healing to those experiencing inner pain such as rejection, anxiety, trauma, depression? Psalm 147:3
Note: Jesus understands suffering and can bring comfort and healing to wounded hearts.
4. While we look to Jesus for physical and emotional healing, what other significant healing can we expect as a result of His suffering? 1 Peter 2:24
Note: The term ‘healed’ can be seen as comprehensive; touching the whole being and restoring it to wholeness. Jesus didn’t just die to forgive sin—He came to heal us completely. His wounds mean hope for your sickness, peace for your sadness, and freedom from shame. That healing may not always come instantly or in the way we expect, but God is always working to restore us.
