He Walked in Our Shoes

Subject: He Walked in Our Shoes
Scripture Reading: Hebrews 2:10-18
Memory Verse: Hebrews 2:17
Objective: To focus on the fact that Jesus understands our struggles because in his experience as a human, He faced real struggles, temptations, and emotions just like we do.
Warm up
“In My Shoes” Relay
Place different pairs of shoes (e.g., boots, sneakers, sandals, heels) in a line. Ask volunteers to quickly put on a pair and walk a short distance. How hard is it to walk in someone else’s shoes when they don’t fit? But Jesus actually walked in ours! Let’s talk about how Jesus really understands what it’s like to be human.”
Questions
How do you explain the topic? Heb. 2:10-18
Does Jesus know how temptation feels? Matthew 4:1–11
Discussion: What kinds of temptations do teens face today? How can Jesus’ response guide us?
3. Has Jesus ever experienced pain and sadness? John 11:35
Note: Jesus cried when His friend Lazarus died. He understands loss and sadness. He understands all that we go through, so no matter how hard it seems, He is more than enough, and His Grace is still sufficient to keep us. Think About It: How can knowing Jesus understands your pain comfort you?
4. Young people often face rejection and loneliness. Can Jesus relate to what it’s like to be left out, betrayed, or misunderstood.? Isaiah 53:3
