Our Great Provider

Subject: Our Great Provider

Scripture Reading: Matthew 6:25-34

Memory Verse: Psalm 37:25

Objective: To emphasize that we should not worry about anything but trust God who will provide for all of our needs.

Warm Up

What are some of the good things God graciously gives to us?

Questions

  1. What are some things that we should not worry about? Matthew 6:25

  2. What can we learn from looking at the birds of the sky? Matthew 6:26

  3. How does God take care of the flowers of the field? Matthew 6:28-30

Note: Have you ever felt worried about something? There are many things in this life that can cause us to worry. Guess what? God knows exactly what we need before we even ask for it.  It’s natural to feel worried now and then, but we should always remember that God knows our worries and our needs, that he provides for us, and that when we trust in Him we can focus on the good things he has planned for us. Think About It: Why should we turn our worries over to God?

4.     Instead of worrying what are we encouraged to do? Matthew 6:33

Activities

Discussion

Do you think you are a worrier? What things do you worry about? Who is good at listening and sharing our worries? Who do you take your worries to? What helps you when you are worrying? What things do you think Jesus worried about?

Worry Poem

How would you describe worry? Write a poem in which you describe worry.

Exemplar

Some say worry is a menace, something that can alter your mood.

You don’t want to laugh, or play or have fun

And it can put you right off your food.

For some, it’s a very sad feeling that makes you feel heavy and slow.

You feel it pressing on your shoulders,

You carry it wherever you go.

Homework: Try shouting your worries to God or whispering them. How many other ways can you think of to share your worries with God?
