As It Was In The Days Of Noah!

Subject: As It Was In The Days Of Noah!

Scripture Reading: Genesis 6: 1 - 13

Memory Verse: Matthew 24: 37

Objective: To focus believers’ attention on the state of man prior to Christ’s second coming and kindle an awareness towards readiness.

Introduction: The coming of Christ will be similar to the days of Noah and we are continuously warned to get and stay ready. Believers today have been given a firsthand guide to heighten our expectancy for Jesus’ coming. We have come to realize that Jesus’ return is closer than before, as the signs are telling us to look up as our redemption truly draws near.

  1. Following the fall of man, what was the condition of humanity by Noah’s time? Genesis 6: 5 & 11, and how did God respond to these conditions? Genesis 6: 7 & 13

  1. How did God destroy the earth in Noah’s time? Genesis 6: 17, Genesis 7: 4, 10 - 24

  1. What did Jesus say concerning His second coming when compared to Noah’s time that will be evident in our time? Matthew 24: 37 - 39

  1. How does the scripture show that Jesus’ second coming will take us unaware and what are believers encouraged to do? Matthew 24: 36 & 44, Luke 21: 34 - 36

Note: We have been told in the scriptures that Jesus is coming quickly. This quickly means that His coming will be sudden and unexpected and will take the world by surprise. With this knowledge, believers should do what’s needed to be ready to meet the bridegroom whose appearance will be any day now.

  1. Noah’s righteousness and obedience paid off in the end. How is this highlighted in the scriptures? 1 Peter 3: 20, 2 Peter 2: 5. Knowing this, what should believers do? 1 Timothy 4: 16

  1. Peter spoke expressly about the destruction of the old world and the present world. What was the comparison made? 2 Peter 3: 5 - 7 & 10

Note: Noah, being warned of God, acted accordingly for the saving of his soul. He did what was necessary to avoid being destroyed with the wicked. Today, we have the scriptures that bring daily reminders, Sabbath sermons and lesson studies to steer us in the right direction. Like Noah, we can say that we were warned and made aware of the Lord’s second coming and the pending destruction. Let us not allow all that has been given and taught to us go in vain.
