Be the Voice of Reasoning

Subject: Be the Voice of Reasoning

Scripture Reading: 1 Kings 17: 1 - 16

Memory Verses: Numbers 14: 17 - 19

Objective: To bring awareness to the fact that our voice or presence should make a difference.

1.     Sometimes we get in our own way. How was Naaman rebuked and finally healed from his highly contagious disease? 2 Kings 5: 1 - 13; And where did the first ray of hope come from? 2 Kings 5: 1 - 4

2.     Men were sent to spy out the promised land, but fear took control of the congregation. What role did Caleb and Joshua play in an attempt to alleviate their fears? Numbers 13: 25 - 30, Numbers 14: 1 - 9

3.     Leaving Egypt with great spoil, Israel faced what they believed was a trap at the Red Sea. What perspective did Moses have on the situation? Exodus 14: 8 - 15; And what similar assurance came through Jahaziel when the great multitude came against Judah? 2 Chronicles 20: 10 - 17

4.     Asa was outnumbered, yet he lifted his voice in faith. What profound statement did he make? What did this move God to do for him? 2 Chronicles 14: 8 - 15

5.     While Saul and Israel trembled before Goliath, one young man brought clarity and courage. How did David still the people? 1 Samuel 17: 22 - 32; Consider Jonathan and his armourbearer. 1 Samuel 14: 1 - 15

6.     The answer will not always come from the popular or expected source. In this instance, who brought good tidings to Elijah? 1 Kings 17: 8 - 10; And what can we learn from Jethro’s counsel to Moses? Exodus 18: 13 - 24

7.      What conclusions can we draw from the following scriptures regarding the power and impact of one’s words? Proverbs 10: 20, Proverbs 15: 4, Proverbs 16: 24, Proverbs 18: 21, Proverbs 25: 11

Note: As people of God, our presence should bring hope. Our speech must also be filled with confidence in God and His power to change or solve any situation. We cannot be the ones causing unrest and unnecessary distress. Wherever we go, people should know that our God is a mighty warrior who is great in battle. He cannot lose, He never fails, and He is a very present help in times of trouble. Strive to be the one to still the people. Remind them that the God of Joshua, Moses, David, and Caleb is still alive and well. Miracles are His specialty, and those who trust in Him will never be ashamed.
