Objective: To understand that keeping the Sabbath is more than to cease from physical work.
1. How is the Sabbath to be observed and what is the benefit to us? Isaiah 58: 13 & 14
2. With what mindset should we come together on the Sabbath? Psalm 100: 2 - 4
3. On this Holy day what other acts of comradery/brotherly love are often experienced? James 5: 13 - 16
Note: It is not good enough to simply be present at church on Sabbath. Show up to be engaged in all aspects of worship, yearning for that enriched feeling.
4. How successful were Paul and Barnabas in delivering God’s promises on the Sabbath and how eager were the hearers? Acts 13: 42 - 43
5. According to Exodus 16:23-28; Numbers 15:32-36 Israel did not enter the land of Canaan (their physical rest) because they engaged in Sabbath breaking and idolatry. What are we being warned against today regarding God’s permanent promise of eternal rest? Hebrews 4: 1 - 10
6. What crucial element of respect should crown the Sabbath? Leviticus 19:30, And how did Nehemiah chide Sabbath breakers? Nehemiah 13: 17 & 18

Note: The word delight as used in the text, (Isaiah 58:1) means to savour, to revel in or to totally enjoy. We are required to make every effort to find the joy of Sabbath observance, instead of just waiting it out or enduring it.
