Objective: To reassure believers that God has a purpose for His actions.


Introduction: In this life, no one knows what they will encounter. There are lots of ups and downs that may cause some to lose their way, while others are strengthened. Today, we will take a look at these situations and the possible spiritually correct responses at our disposal.


1. Having lost all his children and his material possessions, how was Job further crushed? Job 2: 1 - 10


2. In his anguish, how did Job lament the day of his birth? Job 3: 1 - 13


3. How cold were Job’s friends, who were convinced that they knew the answer for his suffering? Job 4: 1 - 9, Job 8: 1 - 6, Job 11: 1 - 4


4. When mortal men, with their limited knowledge, decide to question God (his Maker) what must he also be prepared to do? Job 38: 1 - 3, Job 40: 1 - 2, 6 - 9


5. How does Peter remind us that suffering is an integral part of the package for all stewards of God’s grace? 1 Peter 4: 1; And what is the encouragement to us in Romans 12: 12 (first part)?
