Subject: Job Part 2 - Makes a Comeback and the Truth is Told
Scripture Reading: Job 29
Memory Verses: Job 42: 4 - 6
Objective: To reaffirm us that God does not afflict without a cause.
Introduction: The previous lesson looked at the believer's suffering through the situation with Job. We saw his and his friends' responses. It must be our desire to respond in a spiritual manner as prescribed in scriptures. We will now look at the outcome of demonstrating faithfulness to the end.
When mortal man lacks divine understanding of God’s will what utterances are usually made? Job 3: 1 - 13, Jeremiah 20: 7 - 8
Job, in anguish and bitterness of soul, assumed God had forsaken him. Instead of prayerfully seeking for an answer to his predicament, where was Job’s focus? Job 29: 5 - 12, 14 - 21 & Job 30: 1
God declared Job as perfect and upright, meaning he was exemplary in behaviour and noble in character, not that he was a sinless man. How did a young man lay this out for Job? Job 33: 8 - 13, Job 34: 1 - 5, Job 35: 1 - 5
How did Elihu school Job about God’s divine right to correct His own? Job 33: 14 - 33
What other areas of God’s character did this young man bring to the attention of Job and his friends? Job 34: 10 - 12 & 31 - 35
When mortal man cannot understand God’s action, what is his best course of action? Job 34: 31 - 32
Having seen his mistake, Job submitted to God and was restored. How is this recorded? Job 42: 7 - 12
Conclusion: There are always going to be varying circumstances and situations that arise in our lives. Jesus expressed to His disciples that they are in the world, but they were not belonging there. It is therefore expected of them to respond to the various stimuli in a godly manner. We, being followers of Christ, must therefore embrace this encouragement and walk circumspectly. The promised reward is certain.
