Selfishness

Subject: Selfishness

Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 6: 1 - 11

Memory Verse: 1 Corinthians 6: 7

Objective: To remind believers that there is no positive outcome of being selfish.

Note: Selfishness is seen in and among many of us in different ways. We are all prone to this unwanted behaviour. However, we should try earnestly to prevent this from empowering us. If it controls us, then there is one destiny, the lake of fire.

1. How are we admonished to deal with our brothers and sisters in Christ? 1 Corinthians 6: 1 - 5

2. Though hard it may seem, what is expected of us who are called saints? 1 Corinthians 6: 6 - 8

3. What selfish question did a certain mother put to Jesus concerning her two sons? Matthew 20: 20 - 21; and what was Jesus’ response? Matthew 20: 22 - 23

4. How did the other disciples feel about the request? Matthew 20: 24

Note: While we wish the best for our children, let us make sure that we take others into consideration.

5. What examples of selfishness are related in 1 Corinthians 3: 3 - 4?

6. How did some exhibit their self-centered behaviour at the dining table? 1 Corinthians 11: 20 - 22

7. How does Paul say we should think of others? 1 Corinthians 10: 24, Philippians 2: 2 - 4
