So is His Mercy, so is His Wrath

Subject: So is His Mercy, so is His Wrath

Scripture Reading: 1 Chronicles 21: 1 - 28

Memory Verses: Proverbs 28: 13 - 14

Objective: To remind us that God means exactly what He says.

1.     We were redeemed to trust and obey God, not to try to understand or ‘figure out’ His ways. Why is this so? Psalm 145: 3, Isaiah 55: 8 - 11

2.     Even though God is merciful and kind to His own, how did king David experience both His wrath and His mercy in this incident? 1 Chronicles 21: 1, 7 - 17

3.     What lesson may we learn from these passages? Numbers 20: 2 - 12, Deuteronomy 3: 23 - 27, 1 Kings 13: 1 - 10, 11 - 25

4.     How do these stories help us to remember that God is the God of both mercy and wrath? Leviticus 10: 1 - 7, Deuteronomy 28: 45 - 53, 2 Kings 6: 24 - 29

5.     There is no substitute for obedience. How did Samuel express this? 1 Samuel 15: 22 - 23

6.     While disobedience incurs God’s wrath, what does one need to do to receive His mercy? Psalm 128: 1 - 2

7.     Like Israel of old, we today have no excuse, seeing that the words of God are before us. How does Deuteronomy 30: 10 - 19 remind us of this?
