The New Man

Subject: The New Man

Scripture Reading: Romans 6

Memory Verse: 2 Corinthians 5: 17

Objective: To highlight the transformation that takes place when an individual becomes a new creature in Christ.

1.     What do we become when we are in Christ, and how is this truth further emphasized in Galatians? 2 Corinthians 5: 17, Galatians 6: 15

2.     How is the new man created, and what change should take place in the believer’s life? Romans 6: 3 - 4, Ephesians 4: 24 - 25

3.     How is the new man continually renewed after conversion? Colossians 3: 9 - 10

4.     What should every child of God desire, and what things must be put away from our lives? 1 Peter 2: 1 - 2

5.     What fruit will be evident in the life of the new man? Galatians 5: 22 - 23

6.     What has the new man crucified, and how should he now conduct himself? Galatians 5: 24 - 26

7.     In what does the new man delight, and what two things will he faithfully keep? Psalm 1: 1 - 3, Revelation 14: 12

Note: We are to bury the “old man” at baptism and rise from the water as a new creature in Christ. With a clean slate, the believer can now learn the ways of the Lord that lead to eternal life. The transformation does not end at baptism, but continues daily as we grow in grace, walk in obedience, and allow the Spirit of God to shape our lives.
