Time to Come Out of Lodebar

Subject: Time to Come Out of Lodebar

Scripture Reading: 2 Samuel 9

Memory Verses: 2 Samuel 9: 3 - 5

Objective: To impress upon the hearts of the saints that our present situation is not a life sentence.

  1. What is first mentioned in the Scriptures concerning Mephibosheth? 2 Samuel 4: 4

  1. Where did he reside? 2 Samuel 9: 3 - 5. God, seeing the potential danger of abiding in the plains, issued what command to Lot that is still valid to date? Genesis 19: 17

Note: Lodebar means no pasture, no communication, a ghetto, cut off, forgotten, and cast away. Sometimes we are faced with what seems to be a life sentence or a dead end, and we begin to accept that we are written off, merely waiting to die with no hope in view. This lesson comes to remind us that God is able to turn around our situations so suddenly that it sometimes leave us baffled. Lodebar is not your destination, just a small part of your journey. Take heart and do not give up on God; He will not give up on you. It is no secret what God can do, so prepare yourself for your new status and watch God transform your situation.

  1. How was Mephibosheth delivered from the doom and gloom in Lodebar? 2 Samuel 9: 1 - 5

  1. Being summoned by his grandfather’s nemesis, how did he seek to win the king’s favour? 2 Samuel 9: 6

  1. David, understanding his fears and concerns, gave what consolation? 2 Samuel 9: 7

  1. In an instant, what life-changing circumstances was Mephibosheth now graced with? 2 Samuel 9: 7, 9 – 11

  1. Having read 2 Samuel 9: 8, what can we conclude about Mephibosheth’s perspective of himself and his worth? Our Creator leaves us with what words to fortify us? Jeremiah 20: 11, Ephesians 3: 20, Philippians 4: 19, Psalm 40: 2 - 3
