Trust and Obey; There Is No Other Way

Subject: Trust and Obey; There Is No Other Way

Scripture Reading: Genesis 12: 1 - 8

Memory Verse: James 2: 23

Objective: To bring into focus how imperative it is for us to be clothed with these two components.

  1. What sobering decisions did the psalmist come to concerning his Maker? Psalm 91: 2, Psalm 118: 8 - 9, Psalm 56: 3

  1. When we trust in God, how are we assured? Psalm 125:1. And how was one such person recompensed for doing so? Jeremiah 38: 7 - 13, Jeremiah 39: 15 - 18

  1. How do the Scriptures make it crystal clear that obedience is of paramount importance in our walk with Christ? 1 Samuel 15: 22, Jeremiah 7: 21 - 23

  1. Brother Peter made what appeal to the called-out ones? 1 Peter 1: 13 - 14. Also, what promises did the infallible God make? Ephesians 6: 1 - 3, Isaiah 1: 18 - 19

  1. Jeremiah, one of the major prophets, makes what contribution to the subject? Jeremiah 17: 7 - 8. And what qualified Abraham to be called the friend of God? James 2: 23

  1. What are the two things offered by God, and how will we receive the blessing? Deuteronomy 11: 26 - 27

  1. Two accounts in the written Word always get our attention. Read and identify why God dealt with them so harshly. 1 Kings 13: 1 - 9, 12 - 24, Numbers 20: 7 - 12, Deuteronomy 3: 24 - 29

Note: Oftentimes, with eyes closed and tears streaming down our faces, we sing the words with passion, “Trust and obey, for there is no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey,” yet we remain stubborn and rebellious. Obedience is the only way to show that we truly believe. If we say we love God, we must trust and obey Him at all times and in all things. Do what He says and go where He sends. When we come to Him, we must believe that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
