Objective: To appreciate the fact that we have been given all the tools that were made available to those before us who have overcome.
Introduction: The scriptures remind believers that God has not left His people without guidance, strength, or examples. Through His Word, promises, the testimony of faithful servants, and the help of the Holy Spirit, we have been equipped for victorious Christian living. Because of these provisions, believers are without excuse if they neglect the path of righteousness.
1. In his final epistle to believers, how did Peter bear witness to the precious promises made to us who have escaped the corruption of this world? 1 Peter 1: 1 - 5; 2 Peter 1: 1 - 4
2. With what resources were we furnished? 2 Timothy 3: 16 & 17, 1 Thessalonians 2: 11 - 13
3. As we grow in Him how do the words fit us up? 2 Peter 1: 5 - 8, Hebrews 6: 1
4. Why are we entreated to advance in righteousness? 2 Peter 1: 9 & 10; and what rebuke did some who faltered receive? Hebrews 5: 11 - 14
5. In addition to the written words, what else were we given? 1 Corinthians 10: 1 - 13, Hebrews 11: 1 - 13, Hebrews 4: 1 - 2
6. Jesus, knowing that believers would need help in navigating their pilgrim journey, made and fulfilled what promise? John 16: 4 - 14
7. What personal testimonies have been left on record by two champions of faith? 2 Peter 1: 12 - 21, 2 Timothy 4: 6 - 8
Note: Solomon advised us not to say the former days were better (Ecclesiastes 7: 10). God is a God of equity. Let us utilize the words, examples, testimonies and the leading of the Holy Ghost. We have no excuse, if others made it, so can we
